Robin A Taylor-Firth is a UK musician notable for performance, songwriting and production on various projects including Nightmares on Wax, Olive, Backyard Dog, BudNubac and his latest project Rteph88
His recording career began in the early 1990s, working with DJ Parrot under the artistic name On, releasing on Dislocated Hip Records. Picked up in 1993 by their sub-label, Nucleus, and under the name Anon, he began a relationship with Sheffield-based Warp Records that still exists to this day. He was a major part of Nightmares on Wax earlier works, co-writing and co-producing Smoker's Delight, Carboot Soul, Mind Elevation and In a space Outtasound. His individual keyboard style is also strongly represented across these works.
'You're Not Alone', written and recorded with his band Olive, reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1997. More recently, the track was used worldwide by Lloyds Bank in its 2019 advertising campaign.
In 2004, he produced with long term collaborator DJ Parrot, Backyard Dog's album All in a Day featuring the UK hit Baddest Ruffest, which was on the soundtrack of the movie Ali G Indahouse, and also in Coca-Cola's 2002 World Cup UK advertising campaign.
He won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Dance Music in 1997 for “You're Not Alone'.
In 2022, he signed a major new publishing deal with Kassner Music and is currently working on a new Electronica/Piano project under the name Rteph88 which was released on President Records on the 7/3/2025
