The renowned violin player, arranger, and musical director for <a href="spotify:artist:0JTujDbHVqhWAGl06aaW78">Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2T06whb4s6UiufL1j5Qtz9">Jose Alfredo Jiménez</a> during the golden era of mariachi bands, Rubén Fuentes wrote dozens of Mexican standards including "La Negra," "La Culebra," "Las Alazanas," "Como Si Nada," "La Bikina," and "Que Bonita Es Mi Tierra" (many were composed with Mariachi Vargas' nominal leader, Silvestre Vargas). Fuentes also produced several of <a href="spotify:artist:1sXbwvCQLGZnaH0Jp2HTVc">Linda Ronstadt</a>'s traditional Latin albums.
