Ruby Bullet staked a claim as one of the more unique groups in NYC's heavy music scene during the 2000s, shelling out a noisy mix of angular art-rock, progressive jazz, and melodic metal.
At its core, the group was a collaboration between vocalist/multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Suzanne Stern (stylized as Suzanne Sterne) and drummer Pete Vassil. Live, Ruby Bullet were joined by guitarists such as Aurelien Budynek and Harold "Fro" Davis.
Ruby Bullet recorded two albums with Grammy-winning engineer Jason Corsaro (<a href="spotify:artist:5xUf6j4upBrXZPg6AI4MRK" data-name="Soundgarden">Soundgarden</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1DFr97A9HnbV3SKTJFu62M" data-name="Motörhead">Motörhead</a>), 2007's Nothing Left to Bleed on and 2009's Splitting Heirs. While primarily a bassist, Stern performed guitars on the group's recordings. A third album featuring guitarist Aurelien Budynek was incomplete when the group disbanded in 2012.
