“The drummer’s written a song!” Something no band wants to hear in rehearsal. Unless your drummer is Russell Crawford. This Australian multi-instrumentalist has built a solid reputation as one of Sydney’s finest and in demand drummers, both in the live and studio arenas. Russell has toured the nation with the likes of Josh Pyke, Bryan Estepa, Fallon Cush, Perry Keyes and appeared on several acclaimed albums by these artists and more.
However, many astute music fans also know Russell for the treasure trove of indie pop songs he released well over a decade ago, through his EP ‘Hearing all that’s heard’ (2006) and debut album gem - ‘Floating Aimlessly’ (2010). Fast forward to 2020 and a studio collaboration with Josh Pyke has kick started his return as a solo artist, with the new single ‘Only One’. A lyrically introspective and hook laden tune that perfectly encapsulates his growth as a songwriter and musician, throughout those ‘missing’ years. The future is looking bright.
