From California’s industrial wasteland of the San Joaquin Valley, Rvrboy’s rock & roll is both angry and in love with a world in need of sonic rebellion. Formed by guitarist-vocalist Landen Belardes, Rvrboy's current line-up also includes Cody Ford on drums, Jason Powers on guitar, and Jeremy Yarborough on bass.
Belardes formed Rvrboy after backpacking across Australia, influenced by the towers of Sydney, the rough trails of the Blue Mountains, and the characters he met in between. He initially recorded and released the band’s debut single “Riverman” with support from Thomas Freckleton of the LA-based metalcore band, Silent Planet.
In June 2017, just before Belardes embarked on another journey, this time driving Silent Planet across 35 states on the 2017 Vans Warped Tour, he teamed up with Freckleton, Cody Ford of Elk Grove, engineer/mixing assistant Math Bishop from U2’s chart-topping Songs of Experience, and other artists to complete Rvrboy’s first EP.
Rvrboy’s 5-song EP “Civitas” is a thoughtful social commentary mashing introspective mysticism and rides the edge of pop-culture retrospectives. Its songs explore the inner and outer life of the wanderer, complex relationships, general rootlessness, and finding redemption in unconventional places. Through raw-and-overdriven guitar riffs and a smooth-and-silky indie-rock dynamic, these songs enter sweeping aural landscapes, reflecting an angry and thought-provoking charge into sonic rebelliousness.
