S I Tutul is popularly known as the man who has redefined contemporary Bangladeshi music. He has been named by many of his fans in Bangladesh as the ‘Shurer Karigor’.
In 2006 for the first time Bangladeshi Film 'Nirontor ' won an international Film Award from the International Film Festival in Chennai, for the Film called ‘Nirontor’ .The Film Nirontor’ was also nominated for the Oskar Award in Hollywood.
S I Tutul passed his childhood and boyhood at the place [Kamlapur] in Kushtia District. He created a song call “Ronger Manush” based on his native home Kushtia.
Tutul's voice is a blend of indian classical, western pop and operatic traditions, His unique voice is immediately recognisable.
Largely self taught, Tutul had a flair for music from a very young age and after completing his Honors and Masters degrees at Chittagong University, he decided to pursue music as his career. His basic Instruments are piano and Keyboard but he can also play many other instruments, SI Tutul is an excellent sound engineer too . Most of his songs are tuned and composed by himself.
He was a founder member of LRB and owes a great debt of gratitude to Mr. Ayub Bachchu, the band’s leader, whom Tutul sees as his guru and the person who gave him his first opportunity in the music profession. He also took the lessons in keyboard playing from Mr. Farid Ahmed (shinjon band )when Tutul was in kushtia and his another mentor Mr. Partha Barua (Souls) when Tutul was in Chittagong.
