Immediately following high school, Andrew Johnston (lead singer, guitar) began writing and performing his own songs under the name <a href="spotify:artist:6mKfD3ozvkGlJyMOVL4mk2" data-name="Sailor">Sailor</a> in his free-time. Finally, the crowd-funded debut album <a href="spotify:album:4vO2W95aItb28OWq3CernA" data-name="A Dandelion At First Glance">A Dandelion At First Glance</a> was released on May 29, 2015 when Zeb Worlund (guitar, vocals) joined.
In September 2015, the band added the letter "u" to the name <a href="spotify:artist:2f2UVqn03kxraQOmzaRUac" data-name="Sailour">Sailour</a> to represent change and to separate them from the 70's British pop band <a href="spotify:artist:4pE3KE9J1Z1LKzjwLtWU21" data-name="Sailor">Sailor</a>.
On December 8, 2015, Noisetrade.com premiered <a href="spotify:artist:2f2UVqn03kxraQOmzaRUac" data-name="Sailour">Sailour</a>'s <a href="spotify:album:0yVMaFRC3wxumwzNoLrTPI" data-name="Scuttle EP">Scuttle EP</a> as one of their 'New &amp; Notable'.
Worlund parted ways with the band in December 2016, playing his final, emotional show on <a href="spotify:artist:2f2UVqn03kxraQOmzaRUac" data-name="Sailour">Sailour</a>'s annual Dead Day Show with Beahm leaving soon after. <a href="spotify:artist:2f2UVqn03kxraQOmzaRUac" data-name="Sailour">Sailour</a> opened for <a href="spotify:artist:4Y2ImQoh83EyhkbaJXmJr1" data-name="The Classic Crime">The Classic Crime</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4Hv2C6yf0bx0bbrFLHzScQ" data-name="Matt & Toby">Matt & Toby</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:5QI3pDd4tgvY1OaT9HvRZH" data-name="Civilian">Civilian</a> to a sold out crowd in May of 2017. The rest of 2017, it seemed as though <a href="spotify:artist:2f2UVqn03kxraQOmzaRUac" data-name="Sailour">Sailour</a> was finished until the Times Daily published an article interviewing Johnston about the band where he announced they would still host their annual Dead Day Show with a new lineup.
