Saint Thomas X is the songwriting and recording project of Thomas X, a singer-songwriter, bass player and producer influenced by late 60s to early 90s psychedelic, pop, soul, gospel, outlaw country, world beat, southern rock, post punk, British heavy metal, new wave, dark wave, shoegaze, brit pop, dream pop, power pop, trip hop, down tempo, RnB, funk, and stoner rock. His last 5 records have been recorded and mixed in the privacy of his home.
"I consider these recordings to be polished demos. I don't have designs on accolades, fortune or fame. I write to share melodies, stories and record to catalog my songs. My favorite songwriters and producers are/were excellent melodists, writers and storytellers with exceptionally gifted ears for discerning what works well. I hold a higher value on having good taste and the 'art' of writing and developing material than I do the 'trade' of performing live. I'm not interested in gear, rehearsing, crowds, travel, band management, loud spaces, stress, or any sum of money to endure it all. I'm not interested in show-business, social media, fads or fashion. I've never been able to reconcile the value of the business over the art form. In my opinion, live performance is for extroverts, entertainers and low rent social trade musicians who crave adoration and human interaction and a small check and no royalties. I enjoy the catharsis of writing alone and the control of recording with as few people as possible. So I do that." —Thomas
