Sakara couldn’t stop songwriting if she tried. Penning quietly subversive lyrics that could be about flowers, fairies and mysterious creatures of the ocean, or yet more metaphors for love and figuring out who you are in life, behind a microphone is one of her favourite places to be and it shows, with audiences commenting on the emotion behind her voice and the truth in stories she tells.
Six years after first performing her songs live, 2024 was a great -if exhausting!- year of little dreams coming true. Winning Best Acoustic act at Cambridge Band Competition, being interviewed on Cambridge Radio, and going on to play Camp Bestival Dorset, as well as a second visit to Strawberry fair and many evenings at Cambridge Folk Club.
Ocean’s Daughter was recorded on one of those visits to the Folk Club’s open stage nights in May 2024, and released as a part of their compilation album in September, making it the first of Sakara’s songs available on streaming platforms.
This is Reality joined Sakara's catalogue as her debut single on March 13th 2025, recorded, mixed & mastered by Francis Botcherby in Cambridge, receiving first plays on Cambridge Radio's NMG and BBC introducing (Cambridgeshire & Essex) the week before its release.
And now? She’s excited to be here on Spotify, chatting about her favourite art form in this little box, with plans to spend the rest of this year working on new music and enchanting as many audiences as she can.
