Saktmóðigur is an Icelandic band that identifies with punk and is one of the oldest working bands in the country. It was founded in 1991 and has been operating continuously since then. The band's first release was the cassette Legill, which was released in the fall of 1992. This was followed by two 10-inch vinyl EPs, Fegurðin, blómin og guðdómurinn (The beauty, the flowers and the divinity) in 1993 and Byggir heimsveldi úr sníkjum (Builds an empire out of parasites) in 1996. The band has also released three full-length CDs, Ég á mér líf (I have a life) (1995), Plata (Album) (1998) and Guð hann myndi gráta (God would cry) (2011). In judgment about the band one critic said:
Suddapunk band Saktmóðígur is like a stick in the butt hairs of everything that is hip and cool in Iceland - forever condemned to be on the outside and the drooping trunk of sweat on the fringes. Punk is still bloodthirsty and rattles on like a carcass in a slaughterhouse. Singer Karl is wildly excited and spits out violent and pornographic slurs, with both happy cylinder punk and lousy crushing punk.
The three-song 7-inch vinyl album Demetra er Dáin (Demetrea is dead) was released in 2013 and contained the song Kobbi V, for which the band made its only video. In 2013 the band released the anniversary song Eistnaflugsdans on the occasion of the tenth Eistnaflugsfestival. In 2018, the vinyl record Lífið er lýgi (The Life is a lie) was released.
Saktmóðigur is currently working on a new album.
