Passionate singer, multi-instrumentalist, born in the Azorean islands of Portugal, Salomé has traveled around the world learning music and performing.
With a few light instruments—the ukulele, the pandeiro, and her voice—she wandered through the soundscapes of the Azores, Montreal, the USA, and the Brazilian city of Bahia, always led by her interest in musical language and rhythms, human history, cultures, and folklore. Her voice matured from her Fado roots, shaped by her jazz education, completed by her Bossa-nova addiction, effortlessly vacillating between power and fragility, lightness and darkness, affection/optimism and revolution. A variety of harmonies, rhythms, and instruments from world music along with a smooth sensuality have come to define her Fado, providing a dreamy introduction to Portuguese music for non-Portuguese listeners.
Salome's now settled back to the majestic landscapes and volcanic beaches of her cradle Azorean islands at the center of the Atlantic Ocean, dedicated to exploring the nostalgia between her musical travels and her own cultural roots.
