Sam Maloney is an indie rock artist based in Manchester, whose sound is as raw and evocative as the stories he tells. Drawing inspiration from genre-defining bands like <a href="spotify:artist:7Ln80lUS6He07XvHI8qqHH" data-name="Arctic Monkeys">Arctic Monkeys</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7jy3rLJdDQY21OgRLCZ9sD" data-name="Foo Fighters">Foo Fighters</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4Z8W4fKeB5YxbusRsdQVPb" data-name="Radiohead">Radiohead</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:2xaAOVImG2O6lURwqperlD" data-name="Catfish and the Bottlemen">Catfish and the Bottlemen</a>, Sam’s music fuses driving guitar riffs, haunting melodies, and deeply introspective lyrics to create a soundscape that is both timeless and distinctively his own.
Sam’s journey into music began at an astonishingly young age. Born in Coventry, he picked up the piano at just two years old, developed perfect pitch, he moved to Shropshire and by his early teens, had mastered guitar, bass, and drums. This multifaceted musical foundation became the backbone of his artistry. In 2020, during lockdown, Sam found his voice as a songwriter. Two years later, he poured that passion into writing 4DAYWEEKEND, his debut album.
Released on July 31, 2023, the album is an unflinching exploration of themes like rumination, schizophrenia, and abandonment. Its standout track, “Ringing In My Ears,” caught the attention of BBC Introducing Shropshire, earning radio play and marking a pivotal moment in Sam’s career.
Now, with a move to Manchester fueling his creative evolution, Sam is working on new music, determined to make indie rock resonate with millions. He wants to tell you about our lord and saviour, Rock ‘N Roll.
