Sam grew up in the Finger Lakes, New York. The region is bursting with artists and musicians of all kinds and Sam came up right in the middle of it all. Later he would spend years traveling the country and the world performing music and theater and soaking up a wide array of influences. From shape-note singing in New England to bluegrass banjo in North Carolina to the Classic Rock and Classic Country on the radio, Sam's found inspiration in bits and pieces of every corner of America.
As an actor, Sam has portrayed many of the musicians that have influenced and inspired him the most. He played Johnny Cash in the European premiere of Ring of Fire in Vienna in 2019. He played Woody Guthrie for audiences off-broadway in New York City. He's also played Buddy Holly, John Lennon, Carl Perkins and others for audiences all over the world.
