Category is shameless pop BUT with a jazz degree. This means funky basslines, catchy hooks, tight grooves, lush chords and a vocal that will slap you in the face. Electrifying and colourful, she flirts between genres and wraps up her sound in a 70s/80s aesthetic. Her music is an explosion of pop fluidity much like her persona, with her big button up t-shirts, docs and a mullet, whimsically playing with her androgyny. Sam creates pop music that expresses queer love, joy and fun, and how human this experience is.

For 2024, Sam Sly's debut EP marks the start of a new era. This EP has been a year in the making that encapsulates her journey over the past 4 years with queer love. It is conceptual, moving in timeline order, a place for us to fall into. This EP also highlights a turning point in her writing and love for producing, influenced by artists such as Benee, and Remi Wolf.

When it comes to her live performance there is an undeniably high energy she and her band brings, an atmosphere that pulses through your veins. She has shared the stage with the likes of SAFIA, The Rions, The Grogans, ARCHIE, Lucy Sugerman and Groovy Daughter. Her live show has taken the stage at events such as Enlighten, Floriade and the MAMA awards. Sam will leave nothing on the stage, yet leaving you wanting more.
