Samson Crowe is a Canadian artist with a vibrant pallet of colourful adventure songs. His songs are brought to life by inventive instrumentals and surreal poetic lyricism.
Constantly at work, Samson discography is littered with unique projects which he describes as "the artistic limit of campfire songs."
His first full length LP, During the Rainy Season, is honest and experimental folk record which, in spite of amateur-ish production and unrefined writing, holds in itself a memorable and charming tracklist.
His second LP, High & Wild, takes on a 60s style, chaotic rock 'n' roll styling, inspired by Bob Dylan, the Beatles, David Bowie, and many others of the hippie era. It is also infused with a gloomy, jazz-esque expression inspired by the early works of Tom Waits. It tells a troubled story of a search for community in a confusing landscape.
Among these LPs is a variety of smaller releases. Notably, Ghost on my Doorstep, Strange Animals (or the Last Stop Before the Future), and More Than Words Could Tell. Many fan favourites come from Samson EPs, and he utilizes them as a space to contextualize songs that are enjoyable, but not suitable for projects that are more demanding in terms of concept.
His most Recent album, 2023's Radio Yukon, is a tragic catalogue of treasure hunting in the gold-rush of BC and Alaska. he considers his best work (so far)
