Sand Band are everyone's favourite refined rock band. Featuring Liam Madgwick on guitar, vocals and bass on shards, Jay Van Dijk on drums. Forming in 2014 to play around with new songs and play live shows, the boy's set to work later in the year to record the sound of sand. Shards is the Wellington Duo's first recorded effort.
2015 was a year spent apart mostly for the duo. Seeking inspiration around the globe to be ready to create more noise in 2016.
Sand Band was joined by Tom Walls in 2016 adding a bass player to the mix. The Sand Boys continued to write new songs and play more shows in 2016 until the inspiration really stuck after playing J-Day at Frank Kitts Park in Wellington. The Sand Band is introduced by an enthusiastic elder man, "Now it's time for Sand Band! 2016"
The boy's would go on to record a mixtape titled "Now that's what I call Sand Band 2016!"
Ending on a high note, Sand Band play Bar Bodega's 25th anniversary and final night ever and for the time being, the Sand boy's final show in Wellington.
