Sargassus

Operating somewhere in the depths of progressive death metal, Sargassus is
a recognizable band with a unique soundscape. Be it progressive post-metal
passages, aggressive blasting or doom-infused dynamic riffs, Sargassus is
comfortable experimenting with their sound in any direction, unwilling to fit any
conventional mold and bound to evolve ever further.

The founding members Matias Rokio and Teemu Leskinen have fifteen years
of musical history together that has sculpted the basis for the band’s sound
and style of songwriting. Sargassus was formed back in 2020 when the
singer-guitarist Matias Stenman joined the band and the three started creating
the style Sargassus is known for today. After three EPs and one single over
three years, the core trio had braced through multiple bass player changes
and ever more ambitious releases before Mertta Halonen joined the band and
the group felt things falling into their place.

Sargassus took what was done in ‘King of the Sun’ (2023) that received
almost exclusive praise and one “EP of the year” mention, and cranked
everything up to eleven. As a result, they are proud to present the debut
album “Vitruvian Rays” that includes not only songs that present a completely
new side of the band, but also their most ambitious production and playing to
date.
