You might think you know nothing about Sascha Steinfurth, but somehow you do.
Sascha has been friends with Erlend Øye since Erlend moved to Berlin in 2002. It's Sascha's electric guitar, made by some Luthier wizard in deep West Germany in the 80s, that created the Whitest Boy Alive guitar sound, together with the 40 kg Fender amplifier from the 70s that he also borrowed to Erlend during W.B.A.'s creation.
And the song “Misread” by Kings of Convenience, that was the 2nd most played song on Italian radio in the summer of 2004, was basically conceived at Sascha's home studio in Kreuzberg 69 during a week when Erlend was joined from Norway by his fellow King, Eirik Glambek Bøe.
Sascha has always made music, not always as the protagonist.
Most Berliners will most likely know him as 50% of Vatos Tacos.
The food truck that became THE place to be seen dripping hot sauce on yourself during 2011 and 2017. Vatos organised the legendary “play for tacos” concept that saw Berlin's musicians play impromptu shows paid in tacos.
Castles In The Air is Sascha's first single release as a solo artist.
Drums are by Sebastian Maschat of the Whitest Boy Alive who also was in charge of the recording (at Butterama Studios in Neukölln). Bass is played by Seb Thieme from Tiliboo, that together with Sascha and Erlend Øye creates the standout 3 part harmonies that appear halfway through the track.
Proudly released by Bubbles Records
