Saw Loser are a punk-pop band based in Singapore whose members are of diverse nationalities and whose music is particularly popular in Japan. Formed in 2005, the band is comprised of Sam Cooper (vocals; born in Australia), Masashi Kimura (guitar; Japan), Jimmy Tuppen (bass; United States), and Matt Copper (drums; Australia). They made their recording debut in 2006 with a self-released eponymous EP before signing to Universal Music Singapore and releasing their full-length album debut, Long Distance Phone Calls, later in the year (a Japanese edition was subsequently released in 2007). Two singles from the album ("Big Shot," "Mr. Know It All") were aired repeatedly on MTV Asia. Saw Loser spent much of 2007 touring Asia, opening for American acts including Fall Out Boy, Avril Lavigne, and Sum 41. In 2008 they released their second album, Hits Hit the Fans, a collection of punk-pop covers. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
