Scary Busey was initially conceived by Jake Spece (The Kronk Men, Steakknife Handshake) and Jamie Sykes (ex-Thorr's Hammer & Burning Witch) in October of 2014, several months later recruiting experimental noise enthusiast James Stout (Problem Stick et al.).
Over the next year, the trio wrote and self-recorded instrumentally before enlisting the unique vocal talents of Tim Vester (ex-The Kronk Men, Warm Gadget) who, within a month of joining, penned lyrics and laid down vocals for the demonstrations. With a complete line-up, Scary Busey began performing live, and through sales of their d.i.y. merchandise at local derelict pseudo-venues, dives, subterranean watering-holes and performance-art theaters, eventually earned enough cash to record a first full-length studio effort over two days in the Summer of 2018. The self-titled debut was captured at The Firing Room and mixed by Nim Occulting Services in Bend, Oregon, and mastered by James Plotkin (plotkinworks, Khanate, OLD etc..).
