Scary Hours is an anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic, anti-capitalist band from North Jersey. Initially conceived as a recording project during the covid-19 pandemic, primary songwriter/singer Ryan Struck released two albums and a slew of sociology-minded singles with Pyrrhic Victory Recordings, tackling issues of police brutality, racism, addiction, and labor exploitation along the way. In 2023, by popular demand, a lineup was assembled with comrades old and new to perform the songs in a live setting. The band released its anti-authoritarian hardcore punk anthem "Muted Mass" in January of 2024. In May, they continued their sonic assault with "Sturdy Beggars," a scathing commentary on policies that further marginalize the unhoused, specifically in New York City. Scary Hours teamed up with prolific New Jersey-based producer Pete Zengerle for their forthcoming EP "Can't Contend," due on Pyrrhic Victory in 2024.
