Scientists of Sound's signature anthemic prog-rock electro sound unites raging guitar hooks with hard hitting beats and epic gang vocal melodies. Combining elements of electronica with the frantic energy of a rock band with something to prove at every show, an SOS set leaves the audience feeling like they just climbed a mountain.
Formed from the ashes of East Coast powerhouse bands The Jimmy Swift Band and Ruby Jean and the Thoughtful Bees, the core members of Scientists of Sound are producers Colin Crowell (keyboards, bass, trumpet) and Craig Mercer (guitar, keys, drums, bass, vocals). They’ve played some of Canada's biggest festivals and have had direct support slots with MSTRKRFT, Boys Noize, DJ Falcon, Kid Koala, Thunderheist, TWRP, The New Deal and more.
Scientists of Sound's new album The Beginning (of the beginning of the end) comes out on November 15th, and finds the band embracing more of their rock and roll influences and their reverence for the prog-rock movement of the 70s and 80s prog metal—exemplified in artists like Pink Floyd, YES, Iron Maiden, Rush, and Allan Parsons Project. It's probably not for you—but if it is, it just might be what you've been searching for.
