As the leader of the math-rock band <a href="spotify:artist:2MtiR6AWBSlJugU5DKDVT4" data-name="The Metroschifter">The Metroschifter</a>, and as a solo artist, Scott Ritcher has performed hundreds of concerts across the US and Europe.
Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, but based in Stockholm, Sweden, since 2009, Ritcher’s music now blends influences from both of his hometowns. While overdriven guitars and tortured vocals became hallmarks of Metroschifter's sound, Ritcher's solo work find his songs laid bare.
Often with very little accompaniment, "Ritcher leaves himself confidently vulnerable" according to Orlando Weekly, as he pulls his lyrics and tone combinations from an unusual palette, combining flavors of country music from Kentucky with stark, Scandinavian minimalism.
Ritcher's songs have been covered by dozens of his contemporaries including <a href="spotify:artist:5li5GfWFVl73vu7r2bGitu" data-name="The Promise Ring">The Promise Ring</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5sdxGvwxI1TkTA6Pu2jnTb" data-name="Refused">Refused</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:54Bjxn26WsjfslQbNVtSCm" data-name="The Get Up Kids">The Get Up Kids</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3vb5J3BlfsCQo8NFR9hoYY" data-name="Ink & Dagger">Ink & Dagger</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6KkOfCQtoMpjS2qYgDxmHI" data-name="Elliott">Elliott</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4zYpizxJGv5E1E2dEYoolu" data-name="Burning Airlines">Burning Airlines</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6U9PwS3WsiKBVewf7wtwIZ" data-name="Joan Of Arc">Joan Of Arc</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4KM9dvP8pZwLy9z7J41kq3" data-name="Shipping News">Shipping News</a>.

“Imagine sitting in front of a fireplace, a delicious drink in your hands, feet in epically thick socks, and you’re reflecting on the reasons why the world is sometimes a great and beautiful place – that’s what it can be like listening to Scott Ritcher’s songs.” -Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno
