Lead songwriter of now defunct early 2000's indie-folk group Quiet Life, Sean W Spellman's first solo release came in the form of a stripped-down, tropicalia-influenced introductory track titled "Baby Blue". After many years of touring the American indie rock circuit in support of bands like Alabama Shakes, Portugal The Man, and Dr. Dog, Quiet Life came off the road and Spellman has spent the following years writing, painting and recording various studio demos and home recordings. "Westerly" is the first album in a series of releases on Spellman’s own Westerly Sound label, followed by the instrumental EP, "Easterly". As of 2024, new releases are coming under a new artist profile, aptly named "SPELLMAN".
