The name Seanku comes from the days when his friends would hear his mom screaming “SEAN-KUNNN” over Xbox party chat and started memeing it, calling him “SEANKUUUU.” Over time it just stuck, and the name became part of his identity. He is half Japanese and half Chinese, and that sense of duality carries into the music too, moving between intimacy and scale without trying to force either.
He came up with no real blueprint, just teaching himself how to produce, sing, write, and play over time. Most of it happened alone over the course of 10 years, just trying to figure things out. His influences are all over the place, from Daryl Hall & John Oates to Chief Keef , which is why the sound does not really stay in one lane.
He focuses more on melody and feeling than trying to be perfect. The goal is not to impress, it is to make something honest. A lot of the music comes from feeling unseen for a long time and trying to turn that into something real.
If anything, it is just an attempt to make music that people can feel, and maybe feel a little less alone in.
