Secret Witness

Secret Witness is the vibrant reunion of producers Gabriel Rei and Gene Tellem, singer/songwriter Laroie, and drummer Pascal Deaudelin. Montreal-bred, the formation aims to transmit the city’s underground sound through intimate storytelling, with an immersive tone over rhythmic dance foundations as the central element of their works. 'Volume I’, the fruit of this reunion and recording debut, is set to release in fall 2021. The group came together in the winter of 2020 with a desire to explore different forms of narrative through dance music.

Seasoned producers Gabriel Rei and Gene Tellem combine their melodic ressources to meticulously draw the blueprints of the project. Their expansive vision for Secret Witness translates in mid-tempo motions, clever textures and attractive tones. The input of vocalist and lyricist Laroie elevates the experience with her strong R&B and Soul influences matched with her unique perspective through word. Rich, warm and airy timbre, Laroie brandishes her ability to reach the audience intimately, creating tension and offering release to keep the listener an active participant. Completed by drummer and percussionist Pascal Daudelin, his methodical technique and versatility contributes to the infectious quality of the rhythm section, which folds into an elegant symbiosis of synthesized sounds and live instrumentation.
