Seedpicker

"Roanoke, Virginia! Blue Ridge Mountains born and raised." So begins the Low Down Musicians Blues. And Seedpicker does the part to represent the region's deep musical heritage. Based out of the Roanoke and New River Valleys in Virginia, Seedpicker plays a jazzy and jammy mix of feel good soul intended to make you dance, sing, and have a good time. Headed by the songwriting team and rhythms of Marcus Morris (bass & vocals) and Henry Lazenby (guitar), this four piece now includes long time Roanoke musicians Paul Tressel (keys) and David Gregory (drums). With years of combined live performance experience and a ton of high-energy soul, Seedpicker tickles both ears and hearts, making heads nod and feet tap.


In the mid 2000's, in Salem, VA, Marcus (aka Gustopher Robin, original Seedpicker) met Henry and and formed Groova Scape. Although Marcus is no longer with Groova, Henry continues to lead that band and they have also played together in Smokestack Lightnin' Blues Band (with which Marcus and David still play). Marcus later founded Seedpicker to expand the creative drive.


Based in The Blues, but refusing to be pigeon-holed, the debut Seedpicker Album/EP, Virginia Rhapsody, is due in late 2020. This includes the single, Soular Flare, released September 1st! And thanks to stay at home order, Seedpicker has more new music planned: brand new originals and revived content as well. Stay tuned, Goodship Riders!
