N. Patrick Phile began his journey as an artist in 2004 as the bassist and singer in the Ohio pop-punk band Dear Holden. After the band’s breakup in 2010, he continued on getting his Bachelor's degree from Kent State University to teach high school English. Currently, he is an ELA teacher in his hometown, having already taught for 10 years in a high school classroom. He has continued making music throughout that time under the project name SeeMoreGlass, aptly named for the titular character in the J.D. Salinger stories. So far he has released the EP If You Really Want To Hear About It in 2010, the Graveyard Gertie EP in 2017, the full length album Roaring Paper Spring in 2022 and now the magnum opus The Things In Life That I Can’t Leave Behind in 2024.
SeeMoreGlass is a DIY, non-touring, studio project that allows him to collaborate with his writing partner and spouse, Rachel Ripley, as well as friends creating art and music in his local scene. “The goal of SeeMoreGlass is to create authentic art without the pressures of capitalism,” he has stated. “I am fortunate to have other means of income that allows me to explore whatever I want musically. I am concerned with truth in my art and how it allows me to understand myself and inspire others.”
