AJ Gonzalez, who goes by the stage name Sekster, was born in Plant City, Florida and grew up in Palmetto, Florida before moving to Texas a few years later. He is now based in the McAllen, Texas area.
His main inspirations in music came from listening to many music genres and trying them out himself. His main influences happen to be the pop-punk band, Blink-182 and the artist known as, Lil Peep. AJ mentioned, he also loves the band “Angels & Airwaves” and their work. “I just love Tom’s work, period”, he states, referring to the guitarist Tom Delonge. This doesn’t exclude the many genres AJ shares interest in. He grew up listening to K-Paz de la Sierra to Skrillex and George Strait to Slipknot.
As of now, the music AJ produces tend to be “all over the place” and not one specific genre. Versatility became his way to go; even when told he sounded better in a specific genre many times.
“I’m not too sure what my genre even will be, but music is just something I love”, he stated.
