Sense of Urgency: Symphonic Hard Rock with Passion
The Dutch progressive hardrock formation Sense of Urgency has been delivering "straight to the bone" rock songs for over two decades, infused with tempo changes, dynamic vocals, and undeniable energy. Formed in Nijverdal, in the east of The Netherlands, the band deftly navigates between melodic complexity of progressive rock and raw power of classic hard rock and early metal.
Founded in 2000 by guitarists Ruben Biemans and Bas Heerink, who still form the musical core. The line-up saw some changes, but in 2015 the band received a boost with the addition of Tjeert-Jan van Hoogen (vocals), John Johannes (keyboards) and Sander Hoogesteger (bass guitar). The current, stable formation was completed in 2020 by drummer René van Olphen.
Their music finds inspiration in greats like Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Europe, Savatage, Alice Cooper, Pendragon, and Van Halen. These influences result in a sound that feels both familiar and fresh, with sensitive ballads alternated with powerful, symphonic tracks. The band distinguishes itself through musical craftsmanship and consistently energetic live performances.
Anticipating their upcoming new EP, the band recently released the single "Ship of Madness," showcasing the evolution of their sound and lasting urgency to create relevant and catchy rock music..
