Sequential Disruptions is the name of Paul Dullaart's creative exploration of music using electronic sounds. He grew up on symphonic rock in the 1970s and came of age on punk rock. This probably formed the essence of his contemporary music, together with his highly idiosyncratic DIY approach.
He focuses on the organic integration of sound waves, not looking for certain sounds, but for certain moments in sounds. This leads to unexpected changes, whether conscious or coincidental. He sees it as a wordless reflection of the times and it gives his music a raw, disruptive and uncompromising feel, fitting for today's restless listener.
One of his latest album Sequences of Struggle consists of a long ‘restless’ track and three shorter more restful tracks. Once again these are songs that amaze (in perhaps their seemingly constant repetitions). It is a perfect soundtrack for any life full of struggle, longing and happiness, where change is often absent and happiness is nothing more than the deferred realization of longing. Life can be that simple and easy if you follow the flow.
