Serhat Kural

SERHAT KURAL
Graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Contemporary Dance Department. . He worked with Turkey’s famous choreographers Prof. Dr. Aydın Teker (2008-2009) and Zeynep Tanbay (2011-2016). He founded Mezopotamya Dance Company with his friends in 2005. For many years, he gave dance classes and worked as a choreographer in Akbank Sanat, a contemporary arts place. He created choreographies for the city theatre, the state theatre and private theathres. In 2017, he created choreographies for the German Wiesbaden City Theatre. He went on tours and to several festivals in Europe, America and Middle East such as Pina Bausch Dance Festival (Germany) and Battery Dance Festival (USA). He still continues to work in the field of dance and music.
His Music Works:
In addition to his dance work, he took an interest in music in 2010. In particular, he concentrated on ethnic and vocal experiments/trials. In 2011, he pioneered the "diwan-a dûbeyti" project consisting of poems (rubaie) of the famous Persian poet Baba Tahirê Uryan; he also participated in the project as composer and interpreter. After six years of on-stage performance, he made an album in 2016 titled Kom music. He is making vocal trials in several different languages such as Kurdish, Turkish, Persian, Azerbaijani and Arabic. In the future, he amis at creating performances that combine dance and music. Currently, he continues to work in the field of dance and music.
