Melding funk, soul, rock and roll, disco, doo-wop, and satirical pop into a refreshingly original psychedelic stream of consciousness, SexyWaterSpiders is “a band of bizarre and startling creativity” -Pop ‘stache
Known for their wild underground performances, unpredictable jam sessions, and otherworldly personas, SWS was founded in Portland, OR circa 2010 by bassist/vocalist/keyboardist Jimmy Starshine, guitarist/vocalist Thomas Mudrick, and drummer/vocalist Ian Hartley. The band consistently played all-night warehouse parties, pot farms,
abandoned churches, and repurposed industrial buildings, releasing their debut psych-rock album Black Gold in 2012, which immediately garnered a loyal cult following. The next year they released two singles; the gospel inspired “Kenny Geezus” and the apocalyptic, absurdist disco jam “Neva 4get!” which blends scathing political humor with a catchy hook and uncontrollable dancey grooves.
