Shaggy’s new album, Lottery, takes its title from a personal philosophy that has guided his career: always bet on yourself. That outlook has meant repeatedly taking creative and professional risks, even when the odds were against him, a mindset that has yielded not just a single hit, but a three-decade run of global success. As the only Diamond selling Reggae/Dancehall artist, Shaggy's catalog moves freely between reggae and dancehall, pop, and R&B, shaped by what Shaggy has long described as his role as the king of hybrid music.

Largely self-produced alongside longtime collaborator Shane Hoosong, the album’s 13 songs build on that foundation. Rather than anchoring himself to a single genre, Shaggy, managed by Martin Kierszenbaum/Cherrytree Music Company, continues to refine a sound rooted in Jamaican music traditions while remaining open to global influences and contemporary production. That hybridity, often questioned early in his career, remains central to both his identity and longevity.

Together, the thirteen tracks that comprise Lottery document an artist who continues to define success on his own terms. Rooted in hybrid music, independence, and self-belief, the album reflects Shaggy’s enduring commitment to betting on himself and trusting that the work will stand on its own.
