Born in Hong Kong, raised in Moscow, Russia, studied in London, and of Indian origin, Shah Rule
is a unique and truly global artist. Shah Rule sonically brings an eclectic mix of hard- hitting Hip-
Hop and Electronic drums, combined with samples and sounds acquired through his travels and
life journey.
The year 2019 was one of landmarks for Shah Rule as he made his acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s
Award-Winning film – ‘Gully Boy’ playing the role of a battle rapper, competing against actor
Ranveer Singh’s character Murad.
Further, Shah Rule signed onto Hip-Hop artiste, DIVINE’s new independent venture Gully Gang
Entertainment announced through the release of Gully Gang Cypher with D’Evil, Aavrutti and
Karan Kanchan in May 2019. Later that year, Shah Rule contributed to DIVINE’s debut album
‘Kohinoor’ as featuring artist and a mixing engineer for the tracks Vibe Hai and Wallah.
He kicked off 2020 with another trademark verse on Gully Gang’s Cypher Vol. 2 alongside his
DIVINE and his fellow label mates and continuing his entry into the decade with a bang, Shah
Rule delivered an inspiring talk at the TEDxNMIMS in Mumbai and continued to stamp his name as Indian Hip-Hop’s hook
master with a feature on Raftaar’s 2020 album, ‘Mr. Nair’ on the intro track Me And My Pen. Shah Rule’s debut project release “Hooked” was announced in February of 2021, via Mass Appeal India & Gully Gang, with the first offering being the duo single Hooked featuring Meba Ofilia and Khara Sona.
