Shallow Retrospection is a one-man musical project from Poznań led by Marcin Werner, founded in 2018. Started with deathcore music as chosen direction, the project transcends genre boundaries. It contains sublime symphonic parts and takes inspiration from black metal and even hardcore. The lyrical concept relies on storytelling. It represents the themes of works that have always been close to the hearth of the author and shaped his artistic disposition.

Following the release of the debut album, "Mortals," in 2019, Marcin Werner began working on the new material. Between the three EPs he released as part of the Violent Answer project, where he provided vocals, a second album was getting its shape.

Mixed & mastered by Paweł Olma, "Desperate Within" is an ode to nostalgia and a comprehensive compilation of his musical inspirations. Following the release of the first single, "No Sea Can Tear Us Apart," the album release is scheduled for 2026. Twelve tracks, including three sentimental covers, will be released individually. Each will feature a dedicated video and numerous guest appearances from the Polish metal scene and beyond.
