Long before the release of the band’s debut single, ShameSide’s two lead songwriters, Chris (guitar) and David (bass) met at a chipotle in Chicago- not as strangers waiting in line for food- but as fellow culinary wizards behind the bar. The two began to bond when Midwest Emo bangers would play during closing time, and they decided to trade their aprons for pens and instruments.
A year later, they would meet Miguel (drums) through Facebook. Naturally, he blew them away with his ferocity behind the drum kit and his audio engineering expertise. Months later, Chris sought to find a new tuner for his guitar - one which Nate (guitar) happened to be selling (thanks again, Facebook). Little did Chris know, Nate was not only new to Chicago and looking to join a band, but he was also a filthy music gear goblin who had every effect the band could ever need to fill space in the existing songs.
With its full lineup finally assembled, ShameSide began to rehearse at a martial arts gym and refine the songs already written by Chris and David. Nearly a year later, the band released the first song written with all four members, A Year’s Gone By. For anyone who’s ever felt stuck in place while life moves at breakneck speed, this one’s for you.
