Shamsul

Marked by his indelible fusion of Lo-fi House and Hardgroove, Kieran Shamsul Black is a young DJ/Producer and visionary on a mission to transform geographical isolation into global unity.

Born in Budapest, and raised in Shetland, a small island of around 23,000 people, Shamsul’s upbringing exposed him to a wide tapestry of musical genres. Electronic music was largely unexplored in Shetland, giving Shamsul a unique opportunity to stand out in the EDM scene.

With several years of experimentation across pockets of underground electronic music, his latest material now sees him settle on a sound that bridges the gap between Lo-fi House and Electronic Dance. The result is a fusion of hypnotic, atmospheric soundscapes with driving rhythms, tailored for intimate spaces like underground clubs and raves.

From a young age, Shamsul was immersed in music. From learning the saxophone and piano at the age of 7 to playing in several bands, he quickly developed a natural ear for music. He began his journey into music production at 14, initially focusing on trap before experimenting with EDM at the age of 16. Meanwhile, he built up a name for himself DJing House and Tech House, before finding his niche in Hardgroove and transitioning into his current hybridized electronic sound.

Today, his music is a blend of various influences, including reggae dub, trap, and 90s dance resulting in a unique sound that combines classic samples with trippy atmospheres.
