Beginning as an indie trio in 2012, Shangri-La got going quick. Then it stopped. After gigging around Aberdeen leading to festival slots at The Big Beach Ball and MidFest in 2014, the wheels fell off and the band was put to rest.
Years have gone by and the Shangri-La has never really stopped for Levi Kelman (Vox/Guitars) having spent the last 7 years writing new music. Jack Nisbet (Guitars) adds a fresh perspective on writing music, pitching in with layers of new noise and tone. Behind the drum kit, as ever, Matthew Norval thunders through adding the energy. This new setup means it's all go again, hoping to add something luring, something energetic and something people can get into. Influenced by the likes of Johnny Marr, DMAs and Bombay Bicycle Club mixed with the sounds of slowdive and bdrmm, Shangri-La hope to add raw directness to the their music.
New music has been recorded with Mark Morrow in Edinburgh, with more to come and a line up of gigs on the horizon. Shangri-La hope to contribute to the music scene in Scotland and keep making sounds we feel good about.
