Both recognized for their expressive, nuanced singing ability, Abigail and Milly Shapiro found success individually as child stars of musical theater before recording together as the Shapiro Sisters. Their first album as a duo, Live Out Loud: Live at 54 Below, was taken from a 2014 cabaret show held as a fundraiser for anti-bullying causes.
The Shapiro Sisters spent their early childhood in their birthplace of Tampa, Florida. Their mother signed up older sister Abigail for singing lessons because of her habit of breaking into song from her stroller. Younger sister Milly followed suit. They eventually became involved with a local professional theater group and were soon both cast in a production of Annie. A few years later, they were discovered at a performing arts camp in New Jersey by their future manager, who informed them of age-appropriate auditions being held in N.Y.C.
In November of 2012, Abigail began a four-month run as Cindy Lou Who in productions of the Broadway musical Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! in Boston and at Madison Square Garden. The following April, Matilda: The Musical opened on Broadway, starring Milly as one of four actresses who rotated the lead role. The four girls were jointly awarded the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre at the Tony Awards in June 2013.

Milly Shapiro then co-starred in the hit horror film Hereditary, which opened worldwide in June 2018. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
