On October 13th 2023 shatten released their second record. It is titled "Gruppenchat". The band from Hamburg and Berlin had come together in 2019 and quickly gained the status of a hot underground tip with their ecstatic live shows.
Their self-titled debut album, released in 2021, brought no-wave and post-punk into a contemporary form. Bleak and devastating in its basic mood, but always infused with a touch of romanticism.
The follow-up "Gruppenchat" is now similarly rough, sometimes impetuous, but never uncharitable. Nevertheless the bleak futurism of the debut seems to come true now, insofar as "Gruppenchat" has become a gloomy description of the present that is hard to escape.
"Gruppenchat" is released as 12" vinyl and digitally via Misitunes/Hanseplatte.
