“Where words fail, music speaks.” Shaun Thompson better known as Shaun Kru is an upcoming Brooklyn based artist with a rich Caribbean heritage. Born in Guyana and raised in Antigua, he’s an accomplished songwriter who has written many songs for talented musicians. Shaun’s style is unique and fresh; he brings the vibrancy from West Indian music and infuses it with modern day hip hop.
Growing up with a single parent, his mother, was rough for Shaun. He migrated to various islands in the Caribbean seeking a better life. However, his life experiences has helped him to be hardworking, determined and focused on developing his craft. His music influences includes rap music giant, Eminem and the king of dancehall, Vybz Kartel. He wants his music to appeal to the youths and the West Indian community. When Shaun is not in the studio creating new music, he’s on the basketball court shooting hoops.
