After meeting in 2016, Cormic (James McCormick) and Nate Da Skippa (Nathan Tanielu) formed a duo which is now known as SHEDLYTE. The pair have a deep appreciation for lyricism and poetry and their sound is inspired by an amalgamation of genres including hip hop, jazz, soul and alternative music. However, both Cormic and Nate Da Skippa believe that artists should not be categorised or labelled and therefore they describe their sound as entirely their own. The pair aim to touch people with their music by shedding light on common stories and themes they have experienced as brown men growing up in South Auckland. Trying to keep it as genuine as possible, SHEDLYTE reveals a variety of perspectives belonging to those from their hometown: Mangere.
