Montreal-based synth-pop artist Sheenah Ko takes a contemplative and expansive view of how we navigate the world we live in on her exhilarating sophomore full-length album, Future Is Now.
Having gained a reputation of being a fearless musical warrior who marches to the beat of her own drum, the singer-songwriter, who also serves as a core member of Canadian indie darlings Besnard Lakes, hopes the record’s 9 songs will encourage listeners to broaden their horizons, break the cycle, effect change, and live life to the fullest.
Sheenah first hit the spotlight in 2020 with her debut full-length album No- where In Time, garnering substantial press, a plethora of national radio air- play via CBC, as well as a Top 10 placement on the NCRA Canadian Campus Radio Electronic charts.
Notably, the video for her track “Wrap Me Up” beat out the likes of Beyonce, Tove Lo, and others at the UK Music Video Awards that year, taking home the trophy for Best Choreography. The clip also received a 2021 Juno Award nomination for Best Video.
“Between my last record and the recording of these new songs, my energy and vibe completely shifted,” Sheenah says. “Where my debut record was a bit moody, I very much wanted to focus on the present and being in the moment this time around. I’ve learned a lot of important lessons in the time between records.”
