SHEGA is an indie-pop band from Piana degli Albanesi (Hora e Arbëreshëvet), Sicily, Italy. Their town was founded by Albanian migrants in the 15th century and still today, the arbëreshë community preserve its own identity. Therefore, SHEGA's songs are in arbëresh, their native language. Their music is a journey between idealism and disenchantment, dream and biography, nostalgia for their roots and a new vision of their culture. Their tunes put together ancient arbëreshë folk, italian indie-pop and an international pop-folk blend. SHEGA's songwriting is authentic and serve as a spotlight to the culture of a historical minority. In 2015, they participated in Suns Europe - Minority Language Song Contest (Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy). In 2018, they represented the arbëreshë contemporary music in Tirana (Albania) at Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu ceremony. In 2020, they released Lumturi ("happiness"), their first official video. In 2021, they released SHEGA ("the pomegranate"), their debut album, which they introduced across many concerts in Italy, Albania, Kosovo, Germany and Switzerland. In December, they participated in Festivali i Këngës në RTSH (Tirana), with the new single Një ("one").
