Shelton San is an alternative rock band from the Estonian indie scene, formed in 2002 in Tallinn. The band has released three studio albums (2006, 2011 and 2025), two EPs (2005 and 2022) and a live album with a performance broadcasted for BBC radio (2024). Band’s debut album “Spontaneous Black” received the Estonian Music Award and Estonian music critic Mart Juur chose the album among the 101 best albums of Estonian popular music. The band is known for its powerful and ecstatic live performances. As well as performing live in their home country, Shelton San has played live in Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Great Britain. Shelton San has performed as an opening act for acclaimed bands such as Mastodon, Wooden Shjips and Moon Duo. Shelton San's sound might be described as a massive sonic wall, a blend of rationality and irrationality: screeching feedback, dissonant notes, indiscriminate vocals balancing across singing and screaming, combined with rock-solid drum and bass section, catchy guitar riffs and logical musical progression. Shelton San is elaborate but not sterile; hypnotic but not annoyingly monotonous; nuanced but not overwhelming; raw but not sloppy.
