Sheryl has drummed for rock bands for decades, recorded with a Grammy nominated producer, written an award-winning erotic poem and is literally embracing that black girls rock with her latest project. She is releasing her second solo music project in June of 2024. It is soulful, sexy rock that gets you moving.
Sheryl is a songwriter, singer, drummer, researcher, actor and more. Her first solo music project was Love Lust Life. It is indie soul that gets you moving.
Sheryl won awards and grants for writing and music and won grants for research. She played in or toured with jazz, rock, blues and alt rock bands plus played in Tangria Jazz Group and composed pieces for it that were played on hit TV shows. She studied jembe drumming in West Africa and was in lots of UNC music ensembles and bands during her Chapel Hill years as a Morehead scholar. She sang, acted and played percussion at the National Museum of American History. As a researcher, she worked on empowering underserved communities and on environmental justice. She has a toddler son, a doctorate in chemistry and taught green chemistry. She was born and grew up in North Carolina with two sisters and parents who were science teachers and loved music.
