Shinlifter were formed in late 2023 in Edinburgh, Scotland, by immigrant settlers from as far afield as Bathgate. They don’t sound like Fugazi. The four members of the band worship their deities of Justin Hawkins, Taylor Swift, Michael Shannon and David Lynch as vengeful gods. Does this influence the music? Unclear. But it feels important to mention.
Shinlifter are the world’s first budgetgroup (like a supergroup but cheaper and held together with duct tape) because they’ve all played in other bands (Nice Church, Unwave, Those Unfortunates) and Furey’s set at Tectonics Festival has been on BBC Radio 3 once (her performance has been described by musicologist, Adrian Habgood Rose, as "excrement in sound form").
