Canadian pianist Shirley Wu completed her Master of Science degree at the Royal College of Music, London, where she also studied piano under the renowned professor Julian Jacobson.
Shirley's academic journey includes a Double D.E.C. in Classical Piano Performance and Pure Science from Vanier College (2009) and a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Piano Performance from McGill University (2013). She has performed in cities across North America and Europe, including Montreal, Toronto, Seattle, San Francisco, and London. Shirley's formative training was shaped by esteemed piano professors, including Juilliard graduate Noraire Artinian, Julia Gavrilova, Luba Zuk, Ilya Poletaev, and Martin Karlicek. She has also received additional guidance from acclaimed pianists such as Anne-Marie Dubois, Serhiy Salov, Jimmy Brière, Kyoko Hashimoto, Sara Laimon, Christopher Elton, and Gordon Fergus-Thompson.
In 2014, Shirley founded Opus One Music, a company dedicated to promoting the social function of chamber music by producing events in luxury residences across Toronto. She frequently performs at these events alongside musician friends. In 2015, she became a member of the Seattle Ladies Musical Club.
