A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Shonda began singing at the tender age of three and began playing the piano by ear at the age of five. Shonda is also a multi-faceted gospel recording artist, organist, percussionist, choral conductor, composer, radio personality, actress and novelist.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina Upstate, she taught in both the private and public sectors. However, in 2013, she left the classroom to pursue her music career full-time and to pen her first novel, “Oni’s Coffee” under the pseudonym, E’ShaVonne.
Currently, she serves as President of the Southern Region of the Progressive National Baptist Convention’s Music Department and plays an integral role in the SC Upstate division of the GMWA. Shonda is also the vibrant and prolific host of her highly successful weekly international radio show “The Old Landmark Gospel Hour”. She proudly confesses that her knowledge of gospel music history (which is the basis for the show) comes from all she's learned from her father, the late Bishop W. T. English; a former gospel recording artist for HOB records.
Her album Travelin' will be released on Sunday, August 20th 2023 in observance of her father who passed away August 20th 2013.
Shonda’s Motto: “If you never take a leap of faith, you’ll never know how high you can fly.”
